Apostrophes
Use apostrophes to show possession.
The dog belongs to Tim. -------> Tim's dog.
The donut owned by Sylvia -------> Sylvia's donut.
If the noun is plural (and already ends in "s"), put an apostrophe at the end.
The leashes for the dogs. ------> The dogs' leashes.
The grades of the students. -------> The students' grades.
EXAMPLES.
The teacher's pencils.= The pencils belonging to ONE teacher.
The teachers' pencils.= The pencils belonging to MORE THAN ONE teacher.
If a word already ends in "s," usually, you will still put an apostrophe + s.
The problem belonging to Odysseus. ------> Odysseus's problem.
